Move over, Beatles, we’re singing “Here Comes The SON” for a whole ‘nother reason these days! Bachelorette alum Becca Kufrin recently welcomed a new son with her husband Thomas Jacobs, and we’re absolutely gushing. Why? Because she had the most adorable way of commemorating her time as a mom-to-be—by leaving her son a sweet voicemail that he’ll be able to listen back on when he’s older.
You guessed it: just weeks before their son arrived, both Becca and Thomas used one of our rotary phones to leave a voicemail for their soon-to-be-born son as a way to let the future him know just how much his parents love and adore him. (*tearjerker alert).
A Unique Keepsake for a Nostalgic Mom
When Becca first learned about After The Tone, she loved the unique, sentimental concept:
“I’ve truly never seen anything like it, which is why I think it makes for such a special sentiment for any occasion, big or small.”
We couldn’t agree more. While our audio guestbooks are largely booked for weddings, Becca didn’t fail to see the value in capturing timeless, audible memories for pretty much any life moment. For her, becoming a mother was something she wanted to look back on and cherish, especially after losing one of her own parents, her dad, in 2009. In fact, she still has some of his voice recordings saved.
“I listen to them every year on his birthday or angel-versary. Hearing his voice brings so much comfort and peace, and I want to give my son a similar sense of that.”
To say we’re honored to be a part of her journey into motherhood is an understatement. When the son is old enough, Becca plans on gifting him the recordings as a way for him to always remember how much his parents care for him, and how much he was loved even before he was born. Becca and her hubby even got the voicemails transferred to a vinyl record for a little extra touch of nostalgia. I mean, what’s cuter than picturing a 5-year-old listening to a vinyl record of their parents?
And while five years may seem like a long way away, Becca knows how much the time during motherhood is fleeting. In fact, her only regret about this whole process was not being able to record more voicemails over a longer period of time.
“I honestly wish I could record a voicemail for him every single day, simply because he changes so much. If there was a small way in which I could bottle my feelings up for him, After the Tone would most likely do it best!”

Our favorite part about this whole thing? Becca’s journey with After The Tone is just beginning.
“We will definitely be having After the Tone at our wedding reception! I think all of our friends and family will have such a blast recording messages for us, and something fun (and maybe some good blackmail) to play back.”
Well, here’s our own message for you, Becca: congratulations on your new beautiful baby boy! We’re so unbelievably touched we could help you remember this special time.
